Truggit is an online employment and education marketplace for learning and earning. Truggit's purpose is to bridge the current skills gap across New Zealand and foster a more sustainable workforce. Truggit is the first platform and marketplace to integrate stakeholders across employers, training providers and people.
For this project I was contracted to audit and rework the current UX and UI of the employer and consumer applications. Initially the first build of the Truggit app was developer lead, while the experience was serviceable, it was not optimised.
- Define a new colour and UI component system.
- Audit and improve the experience of the consumer native app.
- Audit and improve the experience of the employer web app.
- Motion & interaction.
Provide people with a platform to identify, save and apply for ideal working and learning opportunities.
- Inaccessibility of talent within the agriculture sector.
- Friction in accessing accredited courses across the sector.
- Employee attrition from the sector.
Truggit's job seeker value proposition is centred around enabling the new & existing workforce to progress in their careers. Prospective employees leverage free courses, gain certification, skills and sustainable employment. Users would continue to cycle through this loop as they progress upward in their careers.
Truggit's employer value proposition is providing employers with 'High Value Users'. Truggits improves and partly automates the recruitment and onboarding process for employers, saving them time and money. Once a position has been filled Truggit provides resource and opportunities for employers to train their own staff, leading to both progression and retention of their employees.
Truggit's users comprise of:
- Employment Providers
- Training Providers
- Job Seekers
- Training Seekers
The app optimises for location by setting the map view as default, this is due to Truggit’s user base placing high value on working and learning in nature.
To maximise reengagement Truggit makes very convenient to stay notified when new relevant jobs and courses are made available.
To further streamline the application and screening process, we have added more editable data points about the user (CV, drivers licence & tertiary certifications) enabling employers and providers with a more accurate view of their candidates.
For providers and employers, Truggit has a separate web app that manages the listings for these users.
The contextual learning that come from this project highlighted the need for more niched industry recruitment tools. General recruitment SaaS products are serviceable for placement but do not seem to be suitable for creating a sustainable workforce, one that train, places and up-skills its labour. Truggit’s competitive advantage of taking a broader view on the needs of prospective employees by providing both employment and development opportunities serve users in all stages of their career. Solving for this strategy has made me take broader perspective, not of agriculture or recruitment but products and their life cycles.
